This seaside resort extends over 15 km of wild coastline, marked by pink sandstone. It has ten beaches and hidden coves. Some people equate Erquy with the famous Gaulish village in Asterix: an identification that its creator Uderzo, who knew Erquy well as he took refuge there during the Second World War, has always denied, even though he acknowledged that he was strongly inspired by the coastline of the Costarmorican region. Today, Erquy is above all the capital of the scallop, the flagship activity of its port from October to April. The walk along the quays, when the trawlers unload their catch, is a must.
