Department of Yonne, region Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Located 15 kilometers from Avallon and populated with about 700 souls (according to the last census), this small town stretches along the valley of the Serein. This village, whose origin goes back to the 9th century, was fortified in the 15th century. You can admire houses dating from this period. Formerly called L'Île-sous-Montréal, it took its current name during the Revolution. It is interesting to take a seat on its beautiful Place des Antes, and to admire its two castles and its old village houses dating from the 18th century. The inhabitants are called Isliens or Isliennes.
