Saint-Vallerin, made up of several hamlets distant from the centre of the town, is one of the four villages to have the Montagny appellation. Vines therefore dominate the hillsides, but calcicolous lawns are also present. To have an overall view and observe a panorama of the territory, you have to climb to the statue of the Virgin installed on the cliff overlooking Saint-Vallerin in the direction of the chalonnaise plain (starting point for a walk). The village is home to several wash houses, but the one in the village is particularly remarkable with its imposing carved stones. Another remarkable site is the Saint-Valérien church.Note that there is a historical reason for the presence of a bakery in the village. Indeed, Saint-Vallerin found itself "cut off" from Buxy by the demarcation line in 1941, when France was separated into "occupied" and "free" zones. In the "occupied" zone, the bakers of Buxy could no longer make their rounds, which led to the creation of a bakery in Saint Vallerin. This bakery has survived the passage of time and is still able to supply a large basin around the village.
