Located 23 kilometres from Colmar, Obersaasheim has just over 1,000 inhabitants. The town is above all a town of remarkable trees: there are "mill palms"(Trachycarpus fortunei) in the ground thanks to the particular weather of the region: cold and dry in winter and hot and humid in summer. It's strange, but they have been standing proud and beautiful for decades, together with beautiful 100-year-old oaks and cherry trees that are almost 100 years old. See also the church of St. Gallen, built between 1772 and 1777. The village was occupied at the beginning of the Second World War and was liberated between 2 and 6 February 1945.
