Nestled at an altitude of 260 meters, this charming village is well worth a visit. Obermorschwihr is totally devoted to viticulture, favored by a microclimate and rich soils, particularly in the Bildstoeckle area. The name Obermorschwihr appears as Morsvilare in a charter from the Bishop of Strasbourg dated 913. Surrounded by beautiful old houses, its church features a half-timbered bell tower that is one of the very few of its kind in Alsace, and the only one in the Haut-Rhin. Obermorschwihr is overlooked by the site of Marbach Abbey, founded in the 11th century, which hosts numerous cultural events.
