The village of Montagny is famous for the appellation to which it gives its name. Buxy, Montagny, Jully and Saint-Vallerin are the four communes that benefit from this appellation. Montagny is the most southerly of the Côte Chalonnaise appellations. The grape variety is exclusively Chardonnay. The specific characteristics of the soil and the ideal location of the vines make this a sought-after white wine, characterized by a mineral side, which some compare to the most famous Côte-d'Or appellations. Starting out from the village center, don't miss the 4.5 km wine trail that winds its way through the terroir (documentation available from the Buxy tourist office).
