32 kilometers west of Jaipur, on the road to Ajmer, the village of Bagru is almost entirely devoted to the manufacture of "blockprint". This handicraft, renowned throughout India, consists of printing designs on fabrics with the help of carved wooden stamps. Bagru is undoubtedly one of the capitals of this very special craft and the bagru and dabu prints practiced here are known to all textile lovers. As you walk through the streets of this village, you will see craftsmen at work, sprinkling fresh dyes with sawdust, rinsing indigo dyes or carving wooden blocks.
