In the east of the territory, crossed by the old railway line from Montchanin to Saint-Gengoux, Le Puley is a small rural village composed of a village and three hamlets. It is also the homeland of two famous men: Guillaume des Autels, man of letters, poet associated with the Pléiade, probably less well known than Pontus de Tyard (see Bissy-sur-Fley), who lived in the 16th century. Maxime Descombin is a more contemporary sculptor (1909-2003), born in Puley, whose works can be admired in Mâcon(Hommage à Saint-Exupéry in the Musée des Ursulines), Lyon or Grenoble. In the village, the Romanesque priory of Saint-Christophe-du-Puley, listed as a historic monument, is worth seeing. Voluntary workcamps are organised every summer to save it. Old quarries, unexploited nowadays, have made the fame of Puley and many houses in the village testify to the talent of the quarrymen.
