Its present name comes from Count Csaki, who in the 14th century laid the foundations of the historical city. In the 16th century, the great Zrinski family presided over the destiny of the city, which became a political and cultural center of the first order. At the beginning of the 19th century, a railway line connected Čakovec with Budapest, Rijeka and Trieste. Train transportation supplanted river traffic and inaugurated important trade. Very popular, the summer festival of Porcijunkulovo is very colorful with its rain of umbrellas in the sky. On the program, festive music, peasant market, gastronomy, conviviality.
