Close to the expressway linking Grand Baie to Pamplemousses and Port Louis, the village of Mapou is home to one of the last remaining sugar estates and farms, and the finest cultural complex in the region: the Domaine de Labourdonnais. Well-known for its superb old mansion (now a museum), its rum factory, its orchards and the excellent Table du Château, the estate is also famous for its fruit production, the largest in the country, and the source of the famous juices, jams and fruit jellies sold everywhere! In full expansion, the estate has recently been enriched by the Quartier des Serres - restaurants, boutiques, a wellness area and more.
