Tierra Bomba is an island of 19.8 km² located southwest of Cartagena, where some 12,000 inhabitants live in poor conditions. The island closes the bay, leaving only two channels of access: to the north in front of Bocagrande, and to the south in front of Barú. It is there that the fortifications of San Fernando de Bocachica are located, which takes us back to the time of the pirates. You can go around Tierra Bomba by bicycle or kayak, but it is especially for its beaches that you come. Ten minutes by lancha from Cartagena ($15-20,000 per person), they are much quieter, in principle. The beach bars are quite expensive, but the atmosphere is nice and lazy.
