Jebel Jais is a 70-million-year-old mountain that is both Omani and UAE. On the Emirati side, the peak reaches an altitude of 1,934 metres and is more than 70 kilometers from the city center. It's easily reached by car, as once off the E11 freeway and at the Wadi Ghalilah dam, a long, beautiful, brand-new winding road climbs 30 kilometers through breathtaking scenery. With temperatures 10 degrees cooler than on the plains, the visitor center at 1,400 meters awaits you with a restaurant, observation tables, hiking trails and, above all, the world's longest zip line.
