This massif, which rises to over 1,000 m, is home to the second largest forest in the country, after Day. As in Day, do not expect here a high and bushy forest, it is a green and rather low area. The flora is more or less the same as at Day and flourishes there too thanks to the presence of several springs fed by the rains. Given the coolness of the place and the water resources of the massif, we will even see some waterfalls. The Mablas are not a human desert. You will come across cattle breeders' camps (sometimes with cattle). The wildlife is very present, with emblematic bird species such as the Djibouti Francolin, the Yellow-tailed Beaumarquet melba, the Shaded Warbler(Phylloscopus umbrovirens) or the African Screech-Owl(Otus senegalensis). A good guide (obligatory) will take you on a hike in the massif, along routes much less frequented than those of the Day (which are already not very frequented).
