Created in 1991, the regional park covers 21,720 ha in a region of farms and strong religious tradition. The area is dominated by hills ranging from 150 to 190 m in height, and is rich in forests and marshland, with around 25 lakes. The park lends itself well to active tourism, from hiking to water sports on its many lakes, fishing and birdwatching. In addition to its exceptional natural heritage, the park also offers visitors the chance to discover the ancient traditions of this region, whose local population has preserved its dialect, traditional dress and ancient customs.
