Between the Besòs River and the green panoramas of the Serralada Littorale Park, Martorelles was one with the municipality of Santa Maria de Martorelles until 1927. In the 18th century, before the arrival of the filoxera, wine-growing became important in the area. Today it is gradually taking over the land, under the DO Alella registered designation of origin, of which the white pansa grape variety is indigenous. To the south of the town, near a river, the Can Sunyer public park offers a pleasant wooded area with children's games and picnic tables. It is presided over by the masia of Can Sunyer, which gave its name to the neighbourhood and houses various municipal facilities such as the school, swimming pool and petanque club.
