This former colonial post is strategic for connections to Abidjan via the Assinie Canal. Its Wednesday market, through which products from the lagoon to Bonoua and Grand-Bassam transit, is held on the pier. It offers a colourful show full of life and cheerfulness where, in a mixture of dried fish fragrances and tropical spices, the industrious ballet of big pinasses and tiny dugout canoes with colourful tarpaulins is played out. In the old town, which stretches along the edge of the lagoon, old abandoned houses can still be seen. The lagoon viewpoint is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful in the country
