This former colonial post is strategic for connections to Abidjan via the Assinie Canal. Its Wednesday market, through which products from the lagoon to Bonoua and Grand-Bassam transit, is held on the pier. It offers a colourful show full of life and cheerfulness where, in a mixture of dried fish fragrances and tropical spices, the industrious ballet of big pinasses and tiny dugout canoes with colourful tarpaulins is played out.
