Bichura, about 10,000 inhabitants, is a village of Old Believers. It is located some 200 km south of Ulan-Oude, 150 km after Tarbagataï: it can be the final stage of a wonderful roadtrip through the taiga and the steppes of Buryatia, to meet this mysterious population. Bichura stands out for its curious Kommunisticheskaya street, listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the longest rural "avenue" in the world: 17 km of richly decorated Siberian wooden houses, decorated with shimmering colours. The scenery is wildly exotic, between the huge swinging wells, the unpaved streets, these pretty vegetable gardens and interiors, designed around an almost architectural mass stove, extremely well-kept.
