The foray into this sacred land of the Buryat is unforgettable. First of all, the isthmus of Chivyrkuisky, a fabulous marsh bordered by shifting sands. On your left is Lake Baikal, whose blue waves disappear at random from the dunes and larch trees. You take this sandy track: the dust and the grazing fauna, typical of the tundra, sound like boreal Africa. In front of you, Mount Markov culminates at 1,878 m: you reach it by a hiking trail, reserved for experienced hikers (AR about 10h). You then reach the peninsula itself and its heavenly beaches: mild climate (23°C in summer), relatively warm water (18°C) and postcard landscapes. Sviatoy-Nos is besieged by (Russian) holidaymakers from June to mid-August
