A coastal village on the outskirts of Ulaanbaatar, positioned right in front of the island of Olkhon. Here, the summer season is short. That's why Baikal Bay, the major project for a posh seaside resort commissioned by President Medvedev, was never completed. Corruption scandal? You see what is left of the construction site, abandoned overnight: the beginning of a seafront, a lighthouse, whose keeper can refuse you access, and a marina, from which several ferries leave for Olkhon and the Ushkani archipelago. The ochre-brown sandy beach is magnificent, with a view of the south coast of Olkhon. The old village, which is inhabited all year round, is very picturesque. If you go north along the coast, you can reach very wild beaches.
