71°N, Taimyr Peninsula, on the Khatanga River. Khatanga (3,600 inhabitants) was an important military outpost. Today, it is only a micro city of the Arctic, with an implacable climate: 186 days of snow, 34 days of blizzard, 9 months of winter. Its visit is included in several organized stays because it houses an incredible underground museum of the Mammoth, dug into the permafrost. Caught in the ice, you will admire the intact skeleton of a specimen over 3 m high, as well as hundreds of bones and tusks. Khatanga, the centre of polar aviation, has one of the last wooden air terminals in Russia, the largest in the Arctic
