The first village you encounter on your way down the south side of the Great St. Bernard, Saint-Rhémy-en-Bosses is the calling card of the Aosta Valley for those arriving from Switzerland. The villages that make up the municipality, set on a sunny terrace at an altitude of 1,600 metres, are located at the bottom of the Artanavaz valley, on a road that has been used since time immemorial. The chief town is characterized by the presence of a beautiful fortified house as well as the most famous ham factory of the valley; the hamlet of Mottes is the starting point of the ski slopes of the Crevacol domain. Further down the valley, Saint-Oyen is a typical small village crossed by the national road 27.
