Travel Guide Villagarzón

Villagarzón is a municipio of Putumayo located 17 km south of Mocoa, at 400 m of altitude, in the Amazonian foothills. This city has developed around oil extraction. Ecotourism is still in its infancy but the potential is there, with superb waterfalls such as the Charco del Indio, with emerald-colored waters, and a great variety of birds that attract birdwatchers. Villagarzón has an airport (Cananguchal) with Satena flights to Bogotá and Puerto Leguizamo (border with Ecuador and Peru). The hotels are basic; it is better to stay in the lodges around Mocoa, which are much more pleasant.
