Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park is becoming an increasingly popular destination. Cave exploration attracts adventurers... The Hang Son Doong cave, discovered in 2010, is considered the largest underground gallery on the planet, and is home to an exceptional ecosystem. Only some of the caves are open to visitors; the most accessible are equipped (Paradise cave) and others (Hang En) can only be reached after an approach walk, with a bivouac organized in the underground depths. These are therefore small expeditions (the walk can be difficult, and you need to be prepared to cross certain rivers that swell with the rains...) that require supervision and equipment. Depending on the requirements of the route, prices can be high. On the other hand, other activities are less costly. There are many possibilities for hiking, cycling and river kayaking. They take you to the "Abandoned Valley", a clandestine stopover on the famous Hô Chi Minh trail, to Bong Lai and its pretty landscapes of green hills... Among the activities, the zip-line that leads to the Toi (Dark Cave) after a plunge into the Chay River is a great success. The excursion can be arranged with the Phong Nha-Ke Bang Tourist Center. The village of Son Trach, 55 km northwest of Dong Hoi, is the gateway to the national park.
