Moroni is the capital of the Union of the Comoros and the island of Ngazidja. It concentrates most of the country's administrations, all ministries and embassies (including the French one). It is also the most populated (and, unfortunately, the most congested) city with nearly 120,000 inhabitants. For all these reasons, Moroni is not really a city of idleness and relaxation. It is not too suitable for long walks and wanderings; walking is not always very pleasant. Apart from its number of restaurants and hotels, it offers relatively little tourist interest and yet... a walk near the dhow harbour or in the medina and the magic works all the same. You have to take the time to appreciate its atmosphere. In addition, Moroni can be a good place to start your travels around the island.
