6,594 inhabitants. Initially fed by the Llobregat River, the textile factories, followed by the potash mines discovered in the 1930s, shaped the current landscape of Sallent, dominated by the highest artificial salt mountain in the county of Bages. However, it would be wrong, in the shade of this imposing salt mountain, to miss its Romanesque heritage: the hill of the ruined castle houses in particular the largest Catalan Romanesque church with a circular plan. Visiting Sallent is also about discovering the legacies of the Catalan intellectual bourgeoisie through the history of the Torres Amat family or knowing the life of one of the most influential Catalan religious of his time: Saint Antoni Maria Claret. In addition to its mining activity, the city preserves one of the most impressive geological formations of the Geopark on its territory: the "failla del Guix". To the south of the municipality is also a wetland called Aiguamolls de la Corbatera which, together with Sanpedor, constitute two wetlands important for biodiversity, and in particular for avifauna species.
