3,127 inhabitants. In the south of Bages, Sant Salvador de Guardiola is a small municipality located a stone's throw from the border of the county of Anoia. Here too the air is pure and the landscapes rather sensational. It is within these fundamentally rural lands that one of the projects of the Ampans association, which works to integrate mentally handicapped people into the workplace, has sprung up (the Canonge restaurant in Manresa is the work of the same association). Namely the Muntanyola cheese dairy, which produces excellent artisan cheeses (goat, buffalo, cow and sheep) in the facilities of Ca l'Urpina, a farm located at the foot of the Montserrat massif. The locality is worth crossing, as it offers a unique and spectacular view of Montserrat. From a landscape perspective, there is a transition here from the Montserrat landforms to the sloping tabular landforms characteristic of the west-central part of the Geopark. Geologically, the area is also marked by the influence of the Montserrat deltaic influence, which is observed in the presence of alluvial sediments that replaced the old delta.
