It is a village halfway between Nain and Esfahan. Don't look for great monuments or prestigious museums, this stopover is more suitable for travellers in search of authenticity and wishing to get in touch with Iranians in their true living conditions. Located on the Silk Road, this modern village conceals an old district of less than 500 inhabitants. Once known for its camels, caravans used to stop there to buy new animals. It has preserved some beautiful monuments testifying to its commercial past and houses adapted to survival in the desert: built of brick and adobe for insulation, they are cooled by wind towers to make the temperature more livable. A simple walk through the alleys of old Toudeshk is already a short journey back in time. In the evening, take the time to climb the hill at the end of the village: it offers a magnificent view for sunset. Finally Toudeshk is an ideal starting point for discovering the surrounding desert.
