Río Sereno is reached by a winding road in good condition. Located one hour from Volcán, at an altitude of 1,000 m, it is an agricultural village (coffee, plantains, cattle) where tourism is not yet developed, and especially a passage to Costa Rica, avoiding the rather chaotic border of Paso Canoas. Here, the formalities are faster and there is no need to be overzealous. The border is open from 8am to 5pm on the Panama side (one hour less in Costa Rica). The first locality in Costa Rica is Sabalito, then San Vito. In Río Sereno, there is a small posada in front of the park and typical fondas. Access by bus from David or Volcán.
