La Meulière, an organic artisan bakery founded in 1994 by Achim Schulzbongert, has always championed "eating well" for better health. An ethic shared by Théo Bouvier, who worked with this master baker for nine years and took over the business in 2022. The charming little store, with its rustic decor and stone millstone in front, is equipped with a mill for preparing organic wholemeal spelt flours and various flakes. Visitors come for the wide range of sourdough breads, viennoiseries, cakes and original snacks.

L'Ambroisie, created by Alain Le Bourdoulou in 1997, is a true Chalonnaise institution. Renovated in 2021, the boutique, its façade and the tea room make the moment even more precious. While the macaroons and pastries are exceptional, each season has its own not-to-be-missed rendezvous. The galettes are one of them, so unique are the frangipane and the recipe. Another of L'Ambroisie's talents is its chocolates. An address that sublimates the classics of our gourmet subconscious.

Created in 1982 by the town's mayor, Roger Lagrange, the Maison des Vins de la Côte Chalonnaise is a showcase for the winegrowers of this part of Burgundy. Each year, a jury of professionals, chefs and wine lovers selects the 144 best wines (whites, reds and crémants) to be sold at the same price as direct sales. Tastings, cellar articles, carafes and local products are all good reasons to stop by.

The team is dedicated to presenting the function of merchants in a new day. In addition to the many names proposed (bourgognes, vineyards of France and the New World) and accessories around wine, Land and Vintage organises thematic tasting days, trips to vineyards… your companies need to contact the house to see everything that can be done and how.

Located in a shopping area north of Chalon, the Baguépi bakery and patisserie is renowned for its many types of sandwich. The bread is made from carefully selected blends of flour. And since the end of 2023, a new pastry chef, Aurélien Ferré, has been on hand to offer new pastries alongside the classics, including his "Nuage à base de pop-corn, amande et coeur de framboise". Full of creativity for maximum pleasure.

For quality produce, don't miss the Chalon markets. Four major events are held each week. On Wednesdays, at Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, food is king. For the best bargains, head for the Stade district, north of Chalon, on Thursday mornings. On Friday, from Place Saint-Vincent to Place de Beaune, gourmet products and textiles are on sale. And on Sundays, crowds flock to the same place for a feast or an aperitif, often making it difficult to get around. A ritual for many Chalonnais.

Tired of hearing about wine? Go to Hell's Kitchen Kavern, the little sister of the almost eponymous burger restaurant, Hell's Kitchen Tavern. Open since September 2023, this little cellar is dedicated to beers, some of them local and most of them craft. As the seasons go by, Pierre, the master of the premises, rotates the innumerable references. Pale ales, stouts, IPAs, smoked beers, barrel-fermented beers or lagers, there's something for every taste. Even non-alcoholic beers, gin, eau de vie... and the good taste of the right advice.
