Declared a biosphere reserve, the Garzón Lagoon, located after José Ignacio, is a marvel of preserved wild landscapes, of beaches beaten by the wind, which is not without reminding the Camargue of the 1950s. There are many birds and small mammals and, in the brackish water, small jellyfish lit by electric currents. But this may change, because if it used to be accessible by a charming little ferry by car or bicycle, today the circular "bridge of discord" has been completed for 12 million dollars, disfiguring the landscape and draining many more vehicles from Punta del Este.
