Stop for a moment to admire the church of Aghios Ioannis: in its courtyard, a 2 m-high marble column comes from the sanctuary of Poseidon. Beyond Livadi, the fertile Komi valley leads to the double sandy beach of Kolimbithra. The first beach, as you approach from the road, faces out to sea: exposed to the wind, the sea can be quite rough and is popular with surfers. It backs onto a small freshwater lagoon where birds stop off. Known as the "surfers' beach", you'll find a friendly beach bar here, then a long stretch of untouched land where you can get away from it all for a while.
