Berzé-la-Ville was long under the rule of the Cluny monks. You can visit the monks' chapel (11th century), famous for its paintings, considered to be the finest example of Cluniac Romanesque art. A comparison with the Byzantine art of Cappadocia is in order, and allows us to imagine the decoration, now lost, of the Cluny III abbey church. The commune is also home to the Grotte des Furtins, a site of prehistory and paleontology. And don't miss the gypsum kilns, testimony to the town's industrial past, where concerts and exhibitions are held. A few kilometers away is Berzé-le-Châtel, with its magnificent medieval castle.
