In the east of Málaga, this city of more than 44 000 inhabitants is the gateway to the Axarquía region. Its climate and subtropical vegetation, nine kilometres of beaches and a lively maritime boulevard have helped to make it a tourist centre. But it is mainly to visit the cave of the Tesoro, a marine cavity inhabited from the Palaeolithic, that we go there. Known in antiquity as Bezmiliana and more recently under the name of Bengalbón, the name it wore until 1949 when this nucleus of the city was still important, it contains an interesting historical heritage symbolized by the castle of Bezmiliana, a fortress of the th century, the towers Almenaras and the Roman deposit of Torre de Benagalbón. Water sports, golf and hiking are available. Not forgetting to taste the victorianos victorianos, fresh anchovies, exclusivity of the place to discover in one of the chiriguitos whitewashed the beaches.
