Yerseke is a charming little village on the southern bank of the Oosterschelde, famous for mussel and oyster farming. Oyster farming started in the village around 1870 and has grown steadily. Nowadays, there is a great attraction and more important and modern infrastructures are starting to be put in place. The town is famous for its Mosseldag, the mussel day, which is traditionally held on the third Saturday of August. Independent for a long time, Yerseke is now attached to the city of Reimerswaal. Yerseke is a unique place to discover a world apart.
