Travel Guide Plimmerton

Just a 25-minute drive from Wellington, the small Porirua-Plimmerton-Paekākāriki area is the ideal place to stay for a quiet break from the big city. Porirua is the most "city-like" of the three, with a few large retail outlets that haven't found their place in Wellington and therefore attract city dwellers for occasional shopping sprees. Plimmerton is more discreet, set on the water's edge along a beach much appreciated by locals. Paekākāriki is a charming village from which to tackle the Escaprment track, a 10 km hillside walk with a breathtaking view of the scenic Kapiti coast.
