Located between the capital Roseau and Portsmouth, on the west coast of Dominica, the small village of Saint-Joseph has just over 2,000 inhabitants. The main point of interest is the Layou River, the largest of the island's 365 rivers. It flows into the sea some ten kilometers north of Roseau, near Saint-Joseph. You can follow the river from the Belles district. The river offers a multitude of activities and refreshing swims, in the heart of exuberant vegetation. It's a superb setting, lulled by birdsong and the lapping of the water.
