The village of Miravet, nestled between the forest and the mountains, is a picturesque landscape with its medieval fortress and stone houses reflected in the calm waters of the Ebro in the early hours of the morning. It is part of the territory of the Ribera d'Ebre region. The imposing Miravet Castle, a landmark construction of the region erected by the Moors before its transformation by the Templar Order, which conquered the fortress in 1153, stands atop the cliff. Its Templar church, adorned with baroque paintings, is worth a look. To reach the village, it is possible to take the historical ferry of Miravet which crosses the river since the 12th century. There was a time when all the villages in the region had a boat passage. Along with its neighbor Benissanet, Miravet has a long tradition of ceramics inherited from the Moorish period, which is concentrated on the outskirts of the city in the Raval dels Canterers district, where it is possible to buy original pieces and see them being made in one of the seven pottery workshops in the area. These include the Cantereria Ferran Segarra and the Cantereria Papaseit. If you're in the area during the first week of August, be sure to visit the Raval festival, which has been held since the 17th century in honor of the potters' patron saint, Sant Domingo.
