Tivissa, a town in the Ribera d'Ebre region, has more than 1,500 inhabitants and is located on a hillside at the foot of the eponymous mountain. Its name, of Iberian origin (later Latinized) means "city of the hill". It offers a picturesque setting revealed by its natural environment and its medieval historic center composed of winding streets, stately homes, and the remains of its ancient wall. The visit to the archaeological remains of the Iberian village of Castellet de Banyoles is not to be missed, as well as the rock paintings of Font de la Vilella (UNESCO), 7 km away.
