Shelter now transformed into an exhibition space, located in a city targeted by major bombings during the civil war
An important theater of the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), the city of Flix was the target of important bombings because of its strategic position and its industry. The first of these took place in February 1937 and led to the construction of a dozen anti-aircraft shelters(refugi antiaeri in Catalan). The shelter in Carrer Sant Josep has now been converted into an exhibition space where the sound of sirens, planes and bombs can still be heard, illustrated with images of that terrible war.
