Coming from the north of Catalonia, Cunit with its 12,000 inhabitants is the first coastal town in the province of Tarragona. It has 2.5 km of beach in the form of artificial coves that owe their existence to the creation of jetties in the 1980s, built to compensate for the disappearance of beaches. Cunit is easily accessible from Barcelona and has a number of quality establishments. The church of San Cristobal and the cave of San Antoni are also worth a visit. More information at the tourist office (C/ Francesc Macià, 3) and at www.cunit.cat and www.turismecunit.cat.
