130 kilometres from Barcelona, the ancient medieval city of Bagà is organised around the Plaça Galceran de Pinós, surrounded by porticoes with stone arches from which the alleys leading up to the old palace of the Pinós start. This palace now houses the Medieval and Cathar Centre. The village is also home to the Interpretation Centre of the Cadí-Moixeró Natural Park, making it the gateway to this mountainous area of more than 40,000 hectares. The Pedraforca massif attracts experienced mountaineers and hikers, although there is a less demanding tarmac track between Saldes and the Gresolet lookout.
