Located on the outskirts of Granollers, 8 kilometers to the south, the small town of Montmeló (population 9,000) is famous for its Barcelona-Catalunya circuit, which hosts the Formula 1 Spanish Grand Prix and the Catalan Motorcycle Grand Prix every year. Inaugurated in 1991, the circuit was built to host certain competitions at the 1992 Barcelona Summer Olympics. The municipality also boasts a significant archaeological heritage, including the Roman town of Can Massot and the Can Tacó site on the Tres Creus mountain. The latter is classified as a cultural site of national interest.
