With fewer than 700 inhabitants, Auburn is one of the first villages in the Clare Valley. It is the starting (or finishing) point of the Riesling Trail, which links it to Clare via a 35 km path through vineyards, and the Rattler Trail, which leads from Auburn to Riverton (to the southeast) via another 19 km route. Both trails are accessible on foot or by bike.
