Puerto Mutis is a fishing village on the banks of the Río San Pedro, 30 minutes from Santiago, shortly after Montijo (which still boasts a small colonial church). This river flows into the Gulf of Montijo, which has been a Ramsar Wetland of International Importance since 1990, along with San San-Pond Sak (Bocas del Toro) and Punta Patiño (Darién). Puerto Mutis is one of the departure points for the islands of Cébaco, Leones, Gobernadora and Coiba. For seafood lovers, there are a number of cheap eateries.
