Located in the northeast of the prefecture, about 20 kilometers from Tokushima, the city of Naruto faces the strait of the same name, the Onaruto Bridge and the island of Awaji. One comes there especially to discover the whirlpools of Naruto, the Otsuka art museum and the first two temples of the pilgrimage of the 88 temples of Shikoku: the Ryozenji and the Gokurakuji. With more than 60,000 inhabitants, Naruto city is part of the economic center of the prefecture along with the capital city, Tokushima. Three islands make up Naruto: Oge-shima, Taka-shima and Shimada-jima. The gastronomy, turned towards the sea, will also delight the amateurs of culinary discoveries.
