The pre-Islamic village of Handoga, located not far from Dikhil, has been the subject of decisive archaeological excavations. The site was probably located on a transhumance route and served as a stopping place. Different types of ceramics, vases for carrying water, braziers, tools made of different types of minerals (but not metals), and beads made of glass paste were found. The site has also yielded stones with inscriptions. Your guide will show you this archaeological site, which is representative of Djibouti's discoveries, dating from an ancient period corresponding to the European Middle Ages
