100 km west of Ilulissat, Qeqertarsuaq (literally "big island") is located on the island of Disko. It is the main town of this immense island, which has a total surface area of 9,700 km2. While the majority of the island's population lives here, the rest of the population is in the village of Kangerluk, a few hours by boat to the northwest. More and more tourists are coming because of the wilderness aspect which offers magnificent opportunities for hiking or wildlife observation (whales, birds) but especially because of the Lyngmark glacier, the only place where it is possible to go dog sledding in summer.
