This is the only foreign enclave on French soil. It's a little 12.83 km² slice of Spain on the French side of the border, perched between 1,200 and 1,600 meters above sea level. Popular with the inhabitants of Barcelona, this mountain village is best known for its famous pharmacy, now a museum, which dates back to 1415 and is the oldest in Europe. In the Treaty of the Pyrenees, it was stipulated that the town of Llívia should have a direct, unobstructed link to Spain, so for almost four centuries, a 4 km-long "neutral" road has linked Llívia to Spain, ending at the border town of Puigcerdà.
