Megalo Horio is the administrative capital of Tilos and second only to the port in terms of population. It's a sleepy village on a high plateau, backed by majestic mountains, with numerous caves, including the famous Cave de Harkadio, where the remains of dwarf elephants were found. Take a stroll through the deserted lanes of the white village, stop off at the traditional kafeneio overlooking the church, whose forecourt is decorated with pebble mosaics: in Megalo Horio, time passes serenely and unperturbed. Here you are in the geographical heart of the island, with access to a whole range of sites and beaches on foot or by bus. Among the latter, Eristos Bay is the largest and most beautiful stretch of sand on Tilos, bordering the fertile valley also known as Kampos, the island's agricultural center. On the other side, a path leads to the rugged, solitary beach of Skafi.
