Located at the mouth of the Asón River, Colindres is a municipality of 8,000 people of great maritime tradition, although the construction of its port dates back to 1935. The city developed in the Middle Ages thanks to its agricultural production, especially through its vineyards. In the seventeenth century, it became a reference of shipbuilding with the manufacture of galions. Today, its main activity is related to the canning industry and fish salting.
